Police recover gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs. 20 lakh from them
The rural police arrested a four-member gang of thieves at Cheriyal mandal and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs. 20 lakh from them in Warangal district on Wednesday.
Disclosing this at a press conference, Rural SP G Pala Raju said they arrested one B Praveen Kumar of Medak district, S Ramesh of Jagadgirigutta, K Raju of Anakapalli in Visakhapatnam, and Lavudya Tirupathi of Husnabad in Karimnagar. They were engaged in the catering business and started committing thefts to lead lavish life.
The police seized two wheelers and a television worth from the accused and also 580 grams of gold ornaments, 2.45 kilograms silver ornaments, two motor cycles, one portable colour television were among the recovered property.
The accused resorted to snatching chains, robbing by way laying people and breaking into houses.
According to SP, one of the arrested Praveen was caught for his involvement in 10 theft cases while Ramesh was arrested for committing 40 robberies, and have under gone a jail term. After release from the jail they started catering business at Jagadgirigutta.
The duo joined hands with Raju and Tirupathi. In all they committed 27 offenses under Jangaon police sub-division limits. Cheriyal circle inspector Jitender and his team caught the accused during a vehicle inspection at Burjagunta cross in Cheryal mandal.
Meanwhile, another known as S Shobaraj of Dharmankanti village was arrested by Janagaon police at the local APSRTC bus stand and recovered 17 tolas gold and 25 tolas silver ornaments worth five lakh rupees. The SP has lauded the work by CI Jitender, Inspectors Narender and Ch Srinivas, Sub-inspectors Joseph, and Srinivas ASI Sambasivudu and constables Saraiah, Sarangapani, Sampath, Bhadraiah and others in nabbing the culprits.
