TIRUMALA: In a major catch, the Tirumala crime police on Wednesday nabbed four persons belonging to a five member gang allegedly involved in several crimes and recovered gold ornaments, cell phones, digital cameras worth more than Rs. 2 lakhs from their possession. According to crime inspector Eswar Reddy, the gang was involved in stealing away cash bags and other valuable articles left behind inside the suits in various posh guest houses at Tirumala.

The modus operandi of the gang was to lift the valuables from inside the suites with the help of a stick through the windows while the pilgrims were away for the darshan of the Lord.

The police who were tipped off, formed a search party and nabbed one of the gangster Nagesh (19) and on interrogation, he revealed the identities of others. However, the kingpin of the gang Vijay, (20), is said to be absconding.

The other accused include Chiranjeevi, (20), Bujji, (19), and Sankar, (19), all of the same age group. The police registered a case and are investigating.
