Two persons were killed when the bike they were riding rammed a roadside fencing at Annapoorna colony, Keesara, on the city outskirts on Friday. While Raju, 25, driver, died on the spot, his friend, B. Venkat, 22, mason, died on the way to hospital. They were going from Rampally to Dammaiguda.
An unidentified man and a woman were killed when the bike they were riding was hit from behind by a speeding lorry near ICICI Bank branch at Khairatabad junction late on Friday night. Traffic came to a grinding halt at the busy junction after the accident. The Saifabad police shifted the bodies to Osmania General Hospital mortuary.
In another case, the Saifabad police recovered stolen property worth Rs.5.19 lakh after arresting Shaik Jamsheed, 30, accused of involvement in 9 burglaries. The recovered property included, 120 grams of gold jewellery, 4 bikes, two laptops and three mobile phones, said Saifabad OSD V. Harshavardhan Raju.
Liquor sale fraud
The Commissioner's Task Force (Central) team arrested a person, P. Sambashiva Rao, 58, who was allegedly procuring bottles of foreign liquor from Anjaneyulu, his acquaintance in Chennai, and selling to customers in Hyderabad. Twenty six bottles of Red Label, Black Label and Chivas Regal brands, which the accused got through courier service from Chennai, were seized, said Inspector Ch.Y. Srinivas Kumar.
On the other hand, B. Shashikanth, 35, used to allegedly divert LPG cylinders meant for domestic use for commercial purpose and make money. He was arrested by the Commissioner's Task Force (West) team. The accused would procure LPG cylinders from gas agency delivery boys by bribing them, refill them in small cylinders and make money by supplying them to owners of small hotels and eateries.
Con man held
M. Srujan Kumar, 32, a black belt holder in Shaolin Kung Fu who allegedly used to extort money from couples at parks and isolated places posing as policeman, was arrested by the Commissioner's Task Force (North) officials. The accused used to threaten to register cases against the couples accusing them of indecent behaviour at public place, collect cash from them and disappear.
