Two sentenced to one year RI each

HYDERABAD: An anti-graft court in Hyderabad has convicted two officials of the Panchayat Raj department and another of the Central Power Distribution Corporation to different jail terms, while the Government stopped the pensionery benefits of a superintendent of the Irrigation department after his conviction earlier, an Anti-corruption bureau press release said here on Monday.

Former Deputy Executive Engineer of Panchayat Raj R. Mahendar who was on deputation to DPEP in Warangal, was given a one-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) term. Athar Hussain, formerly Assistant Engineer of Panchayat Raj department in Bhainsa of Adilabad was sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment too.

In another case, Gajula Gnaneshwar, Junior Lineman of PACPDCL, Chatrinaka was sentenced to six months rigorous imprisonment. These officials were earlier trapped by the ACB when they were found accepting bribes to do official favours, the press release added.

In yet another case, Government stopped entire pensionery benefits of B. Vidyasagar, formerly superintendent in the office of the SE, Nekkonda Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation scheme circle in Mahabubnagar.
