TIRUPATI: In a case where a Chennai-based manufacturer of Acquatech R.O system failed to deliver the machinery to the buyer even two years after collecting Rs. 9 lakh towards the full cost of the system, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum-II, Tirupati has found the company guilty of adopting ‘unfair trade practice’.
Forum president G.V. Raghavulu and member M. Subbarayudu Naidu, disposing of the petition filed before it by the complainant K. Divija of Tirupati, directed the company to refund Rs. 9 lakh to the petitioner with 12 per cent interest from July 26, 2007, the date of payment.
It also directed it to pay to the petitioner a compensation of Rs. 25,000 and another Rs. 2,000 towards litigation expenses within six weeks from the date of the order.
