Sequel to letter by FBV convenor

JNPCMA thanked for the invite

My visit to Pharma City will be in a transparent manner, says Sarma

VISAKHAPATNAM: Forum for Better Visakha (FBV) has received an invitation from the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City Manufacturers’ Association (JNPCMA) to inspect phama units coming up at Parawada in the city.

In response to a letter by FBV convener E.A.S. Sarma, association secretary K. Subba Rao said a team from the forum should visit the city to clear their apprehensions on pollution.

Mr. Subba Rao stated that units in the city had obtained the required consent from AP Pollution Control Board and had been transferring liquid and solid effluents to the centralised Effluent Treatment Plant set up by Ramky-Pharma City authorities. APPCB had also permitted Ramky-Pharma City to process these effluents and the operation of the treatment plants was being overseen and monitored by APPCB. Mr. Sarma thanked Mr. Rao for his invite to visit the city and suggested that such a visit at a mutually convenient time would give an opportunity to understand the actual status. “One or two professionals, familiar with the problem of pollution treatment, will accompany me so that our visit may prove meaningful. Also, some of the members of the FBV may like to accompany me,” he stated.

Mr. Sarma, former IAS officer said: “My visit to Pharma City would be conducted in a transparent manner, as that is how we carry out all our deliberations. I would therefore inform the press to be there, if they wish to, to see the facts for themselves.”
