Akarapu Sudarshan, former Telugu Desam Rajya Sabha member, passed away following a massive heart attack at a private hospital here on Wednesday. He was 56 and is survived by wife, three daughters and a son.

Hailing from Nalgonda district, Sudarshan was Rajya Sabha MP from 2002 to 2008. Earlier he was elected to the Assembly twice from Suryapet constituency in 1989 and 1994 and served as chairman of the APSRTC from 1997 to 1999. TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu visited Kamineni Hospital where Sudarshan died and consoled the family members. Nalgonda Correspondent adds: Residents of Suryapet mourned the death of Akarapu Sudarshan.

The arrest of his son Ramesh in a dowry harassment case on Tuesday seemed to have caused anguish to him. Several TDP leaders visited the hospital to pay tributes to the departed leader.
