The Second Additional Special Judge for CBI cases N. Ananda Rao on Friday sentenced Koti Brahmaiah, the then Assistant (Accounts and Cash), State Bank of India, Kanigiri, Prakasam district to undergo seven years rigorous imprisonment and to pay a total fine of Rs.1 lakh for his involvement in a fraud case.

Brahmaiah while working as an Assistant in the SBI, Kanigiri Branch, during 2000-03, had abused his official position and falsified the account books by posting fictitious credits and obtained wrongful gain by withdrawing money to the tune of Rs.40,28,953 and by obtaining DDs in favour of share brokers and share broking firms to purchase shares in his name and in the name of his wife.
