TIRUPATI: The demise of former Chittoor legislator C.D. Naidu came as a shock, especially to the elderly politicians of the district.

The octogenarian had almost become a forgotten figure among the present generation of politicians after his migration to Miryalaguda in Nalgonda district ages ago. He had contested on behalf of the Swatantra Party for legislatorship to Chittoor constituency in 1962. His son C.D. Ravikumar was formerly ZP chairperson in Nalgonda.

Former Speaker of the State Assembly Agarala Eswara Reddi paid rich tributes to Mr. Naidu, recalling how he and P. Rajagopala Naidu (father of Minister for Medical Education Galla Arunakumari) had tirelessly worked for C.D. Naidu’s success. “As a trade unionist, he was responsible for the sanction of double wages on overtime and contributed to the growth of Chittoor District Cotton Mills Employees’ Union under INTUC”, he said.
