GUNTUR: Guntur Division of South Central Railway has developed its own coach Intermediate Overhauling facility and was formally inaugurated at Sanjeevaiah Nagar here by Divisional Railway Manager Mohammed Akhtar on Saturday.
Developed by the Railway Division’s own resources, this facility can handle this IOH need on all coaches used for passenger trains and those used for express trains would be sent to Vijayawada as was being done earlier, the Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer Pradeep Kumar said.
This facility would be able to reduce up to 40 per cent of the workload on Vijayawada facility out of the work being sent from this division. Guntur Division sends 81 express and 53 passenger coaches every year. An industrial platform has been prepared and five electric-motor operated jacks have been procured to detach coach from bogies. New working space has been created and electric and mechanical maintenance would be done.
