VISAKHAPATNAM: It has been a satisfying experience and he is leaving with good memories as the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation gained good reputation at the Centre and is being projected as a good model in the presentations made to the Prime Minister and others, outgoing Commissioner of GVMC Mukhesh Kumar Meena said here on Monday.
He was replying felicitations offered to him at a function organised by the GVMC to bid farewell to him and also to welcome the new Commissioner B. Sridhar.
Mr. Meena, who took charge as Collector of Kurnool after being transferred from here, was accorded a warm and affectionate farewell by Mayor P. Janardhana Rao, MLC Revu Ratnakumari, MLA Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, floor leaders B.S. Srinivasa Rao (Congress), Nalluri Bhaskara Rao (TDP), Botta Eswaramma (CPI-M) and A.J. Stalin (CPI), Corporators, Additional Commissioner Pola Bhaskar, Deputy Commissioner (finance) N. Mohana Rao, Chief Engineer Jayarami Reddy, other officers and employees and non-officials.

When he took charge 20 months ago, he faced two big challenges, of conducting the first elections to the GVMC and planning the development of the vast areas included in the Corporation, and he could do it successfully with the help of all, Mr. Meena said. “Team work is the reason for GVMC doing very well and the corporators are an important part in this success”, Mr. Meena said.
Mr. Janardhana Rao said Mr. Meena had developed a good relationship with the GVMC and the people.
