The Vivekananda Rath yatra which made a brief halt at the GITAM University here on Thursday attracted the students in large numbers.

Addressing the students at a special meeting organised at the University’s Shivaji Auditorium, former director of ISRO T G K Murthy, accompanying the yatra, urged the students to learn scientific reasoning and the ability to question and think for themselves as the keys to building a strong character. He asked them to take Swami Vivekananda as the role model and focus on character building and the spoke on the need to grow physically, intellectually and spiritually. A team of spiritual leaders accompanying the chariot Swami Nikhileswhwarananda, Swami Shantatmananda, Swami Bodhamayananda also addressed the students, according to a statement issued here.

Vice-chancellor G.Subrahmanaym, pro vice-chancellor D.Harinaryana, and registrar M.Potharaju participated in the programme.
