NALGONDA: The speakers at a meeting held at Charlagowraram village on Tuesday described former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy as ‘Jalapradatha’ for providing Krishna water to several fluoride-affected villages in Kanagal and the neighbouring mandals.

A poor-feeding programme was organised under the aegis of the Congress leaders in the village on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Information Technology Komatireddy Venkat Reddy recalled that Dr. Reddy inaugurated a drinking water project at Telakantigudem village during Praja Patham programme two years ago.

The move paved way for provision of drinking water to several fluoride-hit habitations in Kanagal and its adjoining mandals, he said. The remaining speakers said that Dr. Reddy initiated Jalayagnam to fortify the agriculture sector and find a lasting solution to the recurring drought problem.

Earlier, the Minister inspected the underground drainage works near the flyover in Nalgonda town. Responding to local residents’ pleas, to set up speed-breakers on the flyover, the Minister assured to take up the matter with the officials.
