Collector Siddharth Jain on Thursday said the district administration will shortly take up enumeration on crop damages in floods in the district.
Speaking at a meeting here, he said banana and betel leaf plantations reported heavy damage in Yalamanchili and Achanta mandals in the district on account of floods. The government would take a decision on compensating the crop losses after the completion of enumeration work, he added. Several villages in Kovvuru, Polavaram, Yalamanchili and Achanta mandals remained waterlogged for several days and the inhabitants from these villages were shifted to the relief camps, he explained. Mr. Jain said the road link was yet to be restored in 26 tribal habitations in Polavaram mandal. Boats were engaged for the official teams to extend relief measures to the flood victims in these villages, he added.
The increasing water level in the Godavari river became a cause for concern for the people in the low-lying areas in the district, he said.
