SRIKAKULAM: The total loss due to damages to various sources, particularly irrigation sources and roads, during the floods that hit the district on August 13 was put at Rs. 21.67 crores. Giving the details of damages in a letter to the Commissioner, Disaster Management, the district administration has sought immediate release of funds for undertaking repairs. Already Rs. 15 lakhs had been released for undertaking relief operations.

According to District Revenue Officer Yadagiri, the Vamsadhara had suffered the major damage (sources damaged 92. Loss suffered Rs. 8.38 crores) and Nagavali (sources damaged 25. Loss suffered Rs. 1.11 crores).

Also 210 minor irrigation sources suffered damages causing a loss of Rs.1.74 crores. The Narayanapuram irrigation project had also suffered at 63 places.
