HYDERABAD: Shaik Basheed, who produced the Telugu film ‘Allari’, was arrested on Saturday on charge of duping a cardiologist’s wife by forging her signature and impersonating her to secure lakhs of rupees bank loan.

The Hyderabad Detective Department DCP, R.S. Praveen Kumar, told a press conference that they were also probing the possible complicity of the officials of Indus Bank in the fraud. The accused approached the cardiologist’s wife posing as prospective buyer after she issued an advertisement in the newspaper to sell one of her plots. He collected a photocopy of the plot document and got fabricated documents prepared by forging her signature.

Later, he made a fictitious Power of Attorney document in the woman’s name authorising him to sell the plot, presented the documents in the bank, got the woman impersonated and secured the loan. He was already facing a couple of cases of land-grabbing and cheating, the DCP said.
