ALC joins hands with Pondicherry varsity

Classes for already enrolled students started

Admissions to continue till the month-end

VIJAYAWADA: In a bid to widen educational opportunities, the Andhra Loyola College (ALC), in association with the Directorate of Distance Education of the Pondicherry University, has started MBA in six full-fledged specialisation programmes in the distance education mode for local candidates.

Twinning courses

Employed people, mostly from insurance companies, public sector undertakings (PSUs) and the Railways, have joined the MBA programmes being offered in six specialisations, which are human resources management, finance, international business, marketing and general MBA.

Unlike other MBA courses where students do specialisation actually in second year, these Pondicherry twinning courses are fully specialised programmes giving total emphasis on their respective fields of study.

Classes for the already enrolled students started at the ALC last Sunday.

But the admissions will continue up to the end of this month.

Loyola and Pondicherry University twinning programme coordinator G. Mathew Srirangam says that classes will be run on the Loyola campus every Sunday and Saturday. Nearly 150 classes will be given per semester.

First time

The MBA distance education programmes are being imparted at the ALC for the first time from this academic year with Pondicherry University Directorate of Distance Education director S. Bhaskaran providing all support and evincing keen interest in widening the scope of these courses in this part of the region.

The distance education MBA candidates of this programme will have the advantage of carrying out case study analysis.

They will be given almost all facilities available on the ALC campus on a par with the regular students and they can get access to the well-equipped library.

Guest lectures

To make it even more attractive, the management is planning to conduct guest lectures from the industry at regular intervals.

Industry leaders from the city and other places will be invited to deliver lectures and interact with students of this programme to enable them to have a right perspective of the industry.
