Deputy Inspector General (Visakha Range) Sowmya Mishra addressing a convention against attacks on girls in the city on Wednesday.

Deputy Inspector General (Visakha Range) Sowmya Mishra called upon girls not to bear eve-teasing silently but bring to book the culprits by facing them boldly.

At a convention against “Attacks on Girl students” jointly organised by the All India Mahila Samskrutika Sangham (AIMSS) and All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) at the Visakhapatnam Public Library on Wednesday, she advised the girls to overcome their problems with courage and determination. It was unfortunate that some victims were taking recourse to suicide. She asked them to confide in their parents.

State secretary of AIMSS Ch. Prameela decried the growing attacks on girl students in the State. Describing it as a ‘blur on Indian culture', she appealed to the Government to ban those films that are misguiding youth.

Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman Thota Nagesh, AIDSO State president Govinda Rajulu spoke.

A good number of students from different colleges attended the convention.
