TIRUPATI: The indefinite fast launched by the staff of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha protesting against the Vice-Chancellor Harekrishna Satpati’s decision to recommend one more extension to the services of the Registrar A. Gurumurthy has entered the third day on Wednesday.

The day was marked by attempts by the university top brass to frustrate and thwart the agitation by getting counter statements issued on the issue by a ‘JAC’ which is being dubbed as ‘fake’ by the agitating teaching and non-teaching staff of the Deemed University working under the purview of the Ministry of HRD.

The JAC leaders in a statement claimed that 80 per cent of the employees of the Vidyapeetha expressed happiness over the continuation of the present Registrar. But agitating leaders sitting on the fast, however, dismissed the claim as utter false as the JAC was showing even the non-regular employees as its supporters.

University circles indicate that the HRD Minister and other concerned Central agencies have already started gathering intelligence on the murky goings on the trouble-torn Sanskrit ‘varsity campus.

The JAC also condemned the media for its ‘fabricated stories’.
