A three-day indefinite fast by leaders of CPI(M) and villagers at Payakaraopeta was called off on Sunday evening following an assurance given by the Tahsildar on sanction of house site pattas to SCs and poor in the mandal.

George called off the hunger strike by accepting lime water from party's district secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao. According to Mr. Narasinga Rao the Tahsildar agreed to hand over house site pattas to 150 families in Srirampuram, to conduct a survey and distribute land at Aratlakota, house sites at PL Puram (Payakaraopeta mandal) and Durga Colony and near Bus Stand in Payakaraopeta.
