HYDERABAD: Progressive farmers familiar with modern farming methods will be appointed scientists for villages to guide the rest of the farmers on intricacies of farming.

They will be paid a monthly honorarium of Rs 1,000.

Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy, who held a meeting to give shape to the long-pending proposal of the Government here on Thursday, instructed officials to complete the process of selection by February 15.

The qualifications prescribed for being appointed scientists are a pass in Class X, minimum understanding of agriculture-related matters.
