WARANGAL: The District Congress Committee (DCC) proposes to organise a massive farmers rally and a public meeting on June 23 on University Arts college auditorium premises.

Terming it as ‘Thanks giving’ meeting by farmers, Congress leaders Banda Prakash, T. Rajaiah, G.V. Ramana Reddy and others said farmers never had a favourable government than the one being headed by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Right from day one, the State government cared for farmers and every move was aimed at strengthening the hands of poor farmers. The government is determined to turn agriculture a profit making enterprise and hence is taking initiatives for the purpose, they said.

“The waiver of power dues, free power, subsidies, reduction in fertilizer prices and now the loan waiver. In Andhra Pradesh, lakhs of farmers are destined to benefit to the tune of Rs. 13,000 crore,” the DCC leaders said. With a view of thank the State government and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, farmers would be gathering at the DCC office on June 23 to take out a rally to the University Arts college premises where a massive public meeting would also be held.

The Congress leaders urged farmers from all corners of the district to turn up in large numbers and express their gratitude to the State government for its help.

They requested farmers not to get diverted by the propaganda of the Opposition parties.

“Seeds and fertilizers are adequately stocked and there is no dearth. Farmers can get any amount, at anytime, without any hassles,” they said.
