Cotton farmers on Monday blocked traffic for about four hours on the old NH-7 near Punjab Hotel Chowk here protesting the falling price of the produce.
They relented only after the purchasers agreed to pay Rs. 3,800 per quintal following Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Ravi Naik's mediation. Earlier, the farmers protested at the market yard where the price for the day was decided at Rs. 3,660 per quintal. Purchasers refused to pay more alleging that the produce was of inferior quality due to heavy moisture content.
The farmers argued that the price was much too low and blocked traffic.
