Handicraft expo in Adilabad becomes a centre of attraction
The handicrafts expo organised here at the Gujarati Samaj Bhavan by the Kalajyothi Handicrafts Welfare Society, Ongole, has become a centre of attraction for those who value traditional articles. There are stalls that sell handcrafted items for decoration, as well as those of utility value.
Organiser P. Venkayya says that decorative items include toys from Goan, Kondapalli and Etikoppaka artisans. These toys are quite popular among the visitors.
Among the items of utility are handloom door curtains, drapes and bed sheets from Tamil Nadu, dress material from Mangalagiri, Narayanpeta and Narayanavanam, handloom suitings from Chebrolu in Guntur.
Other objects of interest are the black metal artefacts from Hyderabad, brassware puja items, sandalwood agarbattis from Mysore etc. The comparatively cheaper prices of the articles on display have also added to the attraction of the expo that will be open until November 4.
