With actor Balakrishna making his intentions clear to enter the poll fray, his fans on Wednesday wanted him to play a more active role in politics and do an NTR act in State politics.
Taking cue from the actor, who had stated that he would broach the subject of contesting elections with TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu after the ongoing ‘bus yatra’, his fans in thousands surrounded the specially-designed bus on a Statewide tour to celebrate the success of his new film ‘Legend’.
Slogans hailing Balakrishna as the future Chief Minister rented the air, as the specially-designed bus moved through the narrow lanes at a snail’s pace even as his fans followed him.
TDP Kanigiri constituency in-charge Kadiri Babu Rao was the lone TDP leader who accompanied the actor.
“We want to see Balayya as the Chief Minister of the state,” his fans said, as the bus entered the city more than three hours behind schedule.
The busy Trunk Road was choked, with his fans kept joining the crowd, giving a tough time to police who resorted to caning at a few places to bring the situation under control. Every inch of space was occupied at the busy Addanki bus stand centre, forcing Balakrishna to give up the idea of paying floral tributes to NTR. The actor, who was to visit the Gorantla theatre complex, which screened his film, cancelled the programme, as the crowd became unmanageable.
