HYDERABAD: Nearly 100 graduate and PG students of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) participated in the first ever job fair conducted at its regional centre here at Himayatnagar on Sunday.

Organised by IGNOU’s campus placement cell, in association with Team Lease Pvt. Ltd, a staffing company with its assessment partner, Meta-I Technologies, four firms took part in the fair.

The companies – Callippus Solutions Pvt. Ltd., RK Global Share and Securities Ltd., Blueliner India and Akebono Soft Technologies – offered both temporary as well as permanent positions with salary packages ranging from Rs.1 to 3.2 lakh per annum. Candidates were pre-screened and mapped by Meta-I through a 45-minute skill assessment test meant for assessing employability skills. This was followed by interview rounds for short listed candidates.

Those who could not make it were counselled by Team Lease personnel who helped them identify their shortcomings.

Outlining the selection procedure, Neeta Kapai, deputy director of campus placement cell, IGNOU explained that unsuccessful students could enrol themselves into a three-month training programme where they would be trained in data analysis, behavioural skills, test of reasoning and logical reasoning. “At the end of it, they would be tested by an industry-endorsed skills training company, which would issue certificate,” she said. Those who have undergone training could either participate in future job fair or would be recommended by the skill assessment company to potential recruiters, based on their skill sets.
