Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has asked the NTPC-BHEL Power Project (P) Ltd. to expedite works on setting up of the power plant equipment project at Mannavaram in Chittoor district.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone for the project, proposed to be set up in two phases over 754 acre land in Mannavaram and Kalavagunta villages in Srikalahasti mandal.
The Chief Minister wanted the officials to launch the second phase of the project at the earliest.
NBPPL officials informed Mr. Kiran Reddy that compound wall, internal roads and administrative building of the project had been completed and the corporate office that was shifted from Noida to the project site had become operational. In addition, over 50 per cent of the main factory building and transit accommodation office had been completed while orders for machines, tools and equipment had been executed.
According to an official release, the Chief Minister directed the departments concerned to provide infrastructure such as roads, power and water to suit the requirements of the project.
