Former Minister Vuppunuthula Purushotham Reddy (80) passed away on Saturday after a prolonged illness in the city.
The end came in a corporate hospital here this morning. The veteran politician was admitted to the hospital in May this year for treatment.
A strong votary of separate Telangana State, Purushotham Reddy hailed from Addaguduru village in Mothkur mandal of Nalgona district. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly twice from Ramannapet constituency.
He was Minister in Kasu Brahmananda Reddy and Jalagam Vengal Rao Cabinets having held the Minor Irrigation and Excise portfolios.
He was also chairman of the Telangana Regional Development Council constituted during the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s stint as the Chief Minister. After his close to six decades association with the Congress, the late leader had joined the YSR Congress last year.
Kiran pays tribute
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy visited the Jubilee Hills residence of the late leader and offered floral tributes while PCC chief expressed his condolence to the bereaved family.
