Booklet clears some common doubts

WARANGAL: Noted cardiologist Srinivas Ramaka (43) has come out with a small book on heart ailments in Telugu to allay the fears of the ignorant and to help patients. The book titled ‘Meeru – Mee Gunde’ answers most of the questions and clears common doubts on heart complaints.

“Patients who come to me keep raising doubts. What I tell them everyday, I just scribbled down in book form. This is most authentic and valuable to literate persons,” he told The Hindu.

Lot of literature on diseases is nowadays available on the Internet but it is only accessible and useful to those who know English. In Telugu such books are rare, particularly those authored by medical practitioners. “There may be some books on medicine in Telugu, but one has to verify their authenticity,” Dr. Srinivas says.

The 112-page book explains all the technical terms and meanings in Telugu for the benefit of people. Son of popular physician Ramaka Laxmanamurthy, who earned invaluable public trust, Dr. Srinivas is engaged in social service with special focus on anti-tobacco programmes. The Srinivasa Heart Centre established by this young medical practitioner organises on a big scale the World Heart Day and Anti-tobacco Day. He has been organising free health camps at several places in Warangal and Karimnagar districts.
