HYDERABAD: The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Andhra Pradesh regional office, is organising enrolment camps for issue of two high-tech magnetic stripped ‘Pehchan' cards to insured persons -- one for the insured person and the other to his family members.

The camps are being organised at the regional office in Basheerbagh, at employers' premises, branch offices, dispensaries and hospitals to take photographs and biometrics of the insured persons and their family members.

Enrolment by August

U.H. Rao, Additional Commissioner and Regional ESIC Director, said here on Wednesday that enrolment of the entire insured persons would be completed by August this year. He said the ‘Pehchan' card had lifelong validity and that change of places or employment did not require a fresh registration. With the help of the card the insured person could avail himself of cash and medical benefits and the family members could avail themselves of medical benefits from any institution of ESIC/ESI scheme anywhere and any time. Any additions and deletions in the card could easily be incorporated later. He said apart from the benefits to the insured persons and their families, employers too would benefit since they could register online under the ESI Act and register the employees too online. An employer could generate his ‘challan' after keying in the details of employees and pay the contribution online and could avail of the facilities of facilitation centres which would be functioning in the regional office and branch offices.
