VISAKHAPATNAM: Employees and workers of factories and establishments in all areas falling within the revenue mandals of Paravada, Gajuwaka and Pedagantyada will be extended benefits under the Employees State Insurance (ESI) scheme, with effect from February 1.

Announcing this here on Saturday, ESI Corporation Joint Director R. Parthasarathy, said that the Union Government had extended the provisions of the ESI Act to the above areas, except those revenue villages which had already been covered by the ESI scheme by previous notifications. By virtue of this extension, the provisions of Sec1(3) of the ESI Act would apply to all factories and establishments where the power-based manufacturing process is carried on with 10 or more employees and also to those units where the manufacturing process is carried on without the aid of power, employing 20 or more workers.

Mr. Parthasarathy appealed to all the employers in the newly covered areas to register their factories/establishments with the Sub-Regional Office, ESI Corporation, Padmanabha Buildings, Gandhinagar, Vijayawada-520003.
