Develop positive body language, students told

VISAKHAPATNAM: The E-Plus Club members and students from MBA, MCA and engineering streams of Dadi Institute of Engineering and Technology (DIET), Anakapalle, experienced a training session on group discussion, as part of the E-Plus activity, here on Friday.

Addressing the session, Trainer and Director of Conduira P.V. Rama Sasank urged the participants to remember the cardinal rules of a group discussion: Content and knowledge, listening skills, eye contact, body language and presentation skills.

Group discussion

“Group discussion has become part and parcel of the interview process and to excel one has to improve overall knowledge and content by reading good books and newspapers. The score depends on one's analytical assessment and the varied view points on the topic given. The content is more important than the amount of time spoken,” he said.

The trainer also stressed upon developing listening skills, leadership skills and positive body language.

“Take initiative, create a level-playing field, listen to other participants carefully and jot down relevant points to build up your argument. Maintain eye contact with the participants and improve your language skills.

The key to success in a group discussion lies in a good beginning and a solid conclusion,” Sasank advised the students.

Over 200 students benefited from the training session. The principal of the college Prof. B. Jagan Mohan Rao, HoD of MBA Smitha Saji and E-Plus club mentor Sabirunnisa Gouse were present.
