Enthusiastic start to Police sports meet

The otherwise calm and subdued atmosphere at the District Police Grounds turned lively and festive with superiors and subordinates teaming up and challenging each other at the 45th District Police sports meet here on Monday.

The annual police meet could not be held for two years for various reasons. At the ongoing meet, nearly 2,000 policemen are taking part in 15 events trying their luck to secure a place in the State-level competitions.

SP, Collector enthral

Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar and Collector Rahul Bojja descended on the volley ball court and enthralled the participants and onlookers at the inaugural function.

Addressing the participants, the officers said police personnel should not only be serious about their duties, but in other activities as well. Sports would keep one young and active, they said.

‘Play one sport'

The Superintendent of Police and Collector wanted the policemen to cultivate the habit of playing one sport and enjoy others as non-participants to keep their faculties alive.

Eight teams were taking part in the various games besides individual events.
