Collector V. Anil Kumar on Thursday called for steps to considerably increase milk production and fodder availability in Kadapa district.
During a surprise inspection of the office of Joint Director of Animal Husbandry Vijaya Kumar, the Collector told the Joint Director to formulate an action plan to enhance the present milk production of two lakh litres a month on par with Chittoor district, although it has more hybrid cow population than Kadapa district.
He directed steps to increase fodder production.
Mr. Vijaya Kumar sought grant of Rs.40 lakh for a new building in Kadapa and to mitigate shortage of vehicles for Animal Husbandry Department. He said the vacant land near Chintakommadinne would be surveyed. Orders were received to hand over the site meant for Animal Husbandry office in Rayachoti to the municipality, he told the Collector.
The daily milk production went up from 35,000 litres last year to around 45,000 litres at present, he said. The Collector went round the office and assured to resolve the vehicle shortage. He enquired with veterinary doctors and employees about their problems.
