Krishna Babu questions their inaction on the issue
Inspects main road from I Town Circle to Almaspet
Gets the road width measured at some places
KADAPA: District Collector M.T. Krishna Babu pulled up officials of the Kadapa Municipal Corporation on Tuesday for failing to remove encroachments to ensure uniform and stipulated width of roads in Kadapa.
During an inspection of the main road from the I Town Circle to Almaspet, he got the road width measured at some places and questioned why some structures were not demolished and why the variation was about four to five feet than the finalised width.
He questioned the inaction of officials when house and shop owners were building structures by partly encroaching on the roads despite payment of compensation.
He pulled up public health officials for not laying drinking water pipelines at places where drain construction was completed.
He instructed Transco SE Sankaranarayana over his mobile to shift the electric transformer near I Town police station, as it obstructed vehicular movement. He directed shifting of a temple in Medara street.
Road widening was undertaken one-and-a-half years back but the delay in land acquisition and 12 pending cases in the High Court delayed the works, the Collector said.
People are discontented at a snail’s pace of works, he remarked. Drinking water supply, road widening and underground drainage works should be taken up simultaneously and lack of coordination between the officials is also a factor for the delay, Mr. Krishna Babu said.
Drains would be constructed within two months and road widening would be taken up, he said.
Road widening from Krishna theatre circle to Potti Sriramulu statue and second Gandhi statue to Built-Up circle should be completed expeditiously, he said. Municipal Commissioner S. Aleem Basha, Roads and Buildings Superintending Engineer Chandrasekhar Reddy, Executive Engineer Vivekananda Reddy, Kadapa RDO Ranjit Basha, Kadapa Tahsildar Vinayakam and Kadapa East Circle Inspector U. Suryanarayana participated.
