Joint Chief Inspector of Factories D. Chandrasekhara Varma has praised the efforts of NTPC Simhadri Project in the area of occupational health and safety management and explained the need for togetherness and participatory approach to achieve total safety. He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of Safety Week organised by NTPC Simhadri at Deepanjalinagar near here on Tuesday.

He also emphasised that under the changing societal perceptions on industries, managements need to focus more on safety, health and environmental issues right from inception.

NTPC general managers S. Narendra and Santosh James listed out the safety record of the company and urged the workers to strictly adhere to safety parameters both at workplace and outside.

Assistant General Manager P. Chinna Rao, Simhadri Executives’ Association general secretary Y. Suresh Babu, Simhadri Mazdoor Union general secretary T.U.M. Reddy and others spoke.

Safety awards

Earlier, ‘NTPC Simhadri Safety Awards’ were presented to the contracting agencies of Simhadri for their performance. Brothers Engineering, Nagendra Construction Ltd, Unitech Ltd and SISS Ltd bagged Safety

Awards for maintaining best safety and housekeeping performance in operation and maintenance of main plant and coal handling plant.

Prizes were given to the winners of various competitions conducted during the Safety Week.
