Sheik Abdul Basheer, Prakasam district president of the Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers on Thursday called upon the employees to get ready for indefinite strike from midnight of November 23 to achieve their 54-point charter of demands.
Addressing the agitating staff on the second day of their relay fast, he said: “it is unfortunate that the State government has not conceded even a single demand pending since August 2008.”
“We will have no option but to go on indefinite strike if the government continues to remain indifferent to our demands,” its district secretary P. Srinivasa Rao said.
The Cabinet sub-committee under Revenue Minister D. Prasada Rao proposed 45 days leave to women staff undergoing family planning operation, though the staff had not sought it, its district treasurer Rajalakshmi said.
State government library staff and municipal employees joined the relay hunger strike by over 200 JAC members on Thursday.
