GUNTUR: All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and MLC P. Sudhakara Reddy on Saturday flagged a new 108 Rajiv Arogyasri ambulance service on the Agricultural Chilli Yard premises.

The 108 ambulance service is the third of its kind in the city and the 28th in the district.

Agricultural Market Committee Chairman Lella Appi Reddy said that the ambulance would be stationed on the yard premises and if necessary would attend medical emergencies for farmers.

The AICC secretary called up 108 toll free number from his mobile and informed the staff of the formal inauguration of the service.

Later talking to the reporters, Mr. Reddy sounded optimistic that the UPA government would last its full term.

He appealed to the left parties to shed off their misgivings of the nuclear deal and support the 123 agreement. He said that nuclear deal would cater to the energy requirements of the country and make accessible world-class nuclear technology.

He also lauded the many initiatives being taken up the AMC for the welfare of farmers, including the free meal programme, scholarships to children of poor farmers and reiterated that the State Government would pay full compensation to the farmers who have lost their produce in the fire mishap.
