VISAKHAPATNAM: The Bank of India and Pydah College for Women jointly organised an inter-college elocution and debate competition on Wednesday. Over 40 students from 21 colleges participated in the elocution competition and 22 teams, each comprising two students, took part in the debate competition.
Addressing participants, principal of the college M. Subha, spoke on the importance of cultivating public speaking skills among the youth and encouraging the youth to improve their communication skills.
President of Pydah Educational Academy, Pydah Krishna Prasad, praised the Bank of India for conducting such events for students and liberally sanctioning educational loans.
The winners for the elocution competition were P. Kiranmai (L.B. College), Rafat Ara (St. Josephs College) and P.V.S.V. Latha (G.V.P. College). Teams from Vidyardhi College, B.V.K. College and Government Women's College secured the first, second and third positions in the debate competition.
The rolling trophies for this event and prizes for the competition will be distributed at the valedictory function of Bank of India next week.
The chief guest for the event was principal, University Colleges of Arts, Commerce and Management, J.V. Prabhakar Rao. Zonal manager of the Bank of India, D.V.S. Murthy and chief manager of Bank of India SEM Branch Visakhapatnam, G.V. Anjaneyulu, were present .
