A herd of elephants ran amuck in agricultural fields in Dinnela village in Tsundupalle mandal in Rayachoti constituency and damaged paddy crop in about 10 acres on Wednesday night. Nearly 30 pachyderms trampled upon the paddy crop. The villagers were fear-stricken initially but later they mustered courage to drive away the herd of elephants by drumbeats and lighting torches. The villagers informed forest officials about the attack by elephants and urged them to further drive away the herd. – Special Correspondent
