A rice miller of Miryalaguda, Burgu Siddhaiah (65), and wife Damayanti, were tied up by five suspected robbers between 1 and 2 a.m. on Friday and relieved of over 40 tolas of gold jewellery and half-a-kg silver articles.
The Two Town Police, who registered a case following a complaint lodged by Damayanti, said they were suspecting the involvement of painters who have been working in the house for the last one week. Siddhaiah has been bedridden following a recent accident which caused spine injury.
While his hands were tied up, at least two suspects gagged Damayanthi with her sari. They used a screw driver to open an almirah and decamped with the jewellery. Miryalaguda DSP D. Kavita visited the house.
The clues team collected evidence, the police said. Mogalaiah, CI, is investigating the case.
