KARIMNAGAR: The stage is set for polling to the 57 ZPTCs and 797 MPTC members, which would go for polling in the first phase on Wednesday in Karimnagar district. It may be recalled that five MPTC members have been elected unanimously.

The district administration and the police machinery have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of elections. Polling would be held from 7 am to 5 pm on Wednesday and the counting of votes would be taken up on July 4 from 8 am onwards.

The authorities have dispatched 5,921 ballot boxes to various polling stations and a total of 17,159 polling personnel were deployed for the polling duties. The Collector, M V Satyanararyana informed the voters to get any one of the 15 documents listed for the proof of their identity to exercise their franchise. On the other hand, the district police machinery had deployed additional forces for the smooth conduct of elections in the district.

ADILABAD: Some 13 lakh voters would exercise their franchise on Wednesday during the first phase of panchayat elections in Adilabad district for which all arrangements have been made. Just over half these voters are women who have been central to campaigns of all political parties.

For the 52 Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies, 194 candidates are in fray while for the 569 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies 1,941 contestants would fight it out electorally.

Tuesday morning saw movement of polling personnel and the material to respective polling stations from the 51 distribution centres in the district.
