HYDERABAD: Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested B. Narasimha Reddy, executive engineer, Panchayat Raj department, Kakinada division, after they caught him on Wednesday accepting a bribe of Rs.7,000. A press release issued by ACB here said he had demanded the amount for doing an official favour of passing bills as final payment for four civil works executed by the complainant.
A surprise check by ACB of Social Welfare SC Boys Hostel in Gudur late on Tuesday revealed several irregularities in attendance, menu and stock of provisions.
The Hostel welfare Officer and others staff were found absent.
On finding that records were not being maintained properly, ACB officials secured them for verification.
V. Demudu, Assistant Project Engineer, and V. Ramu, assistant lineman of the Anakapalli Rural Electricity Cooperative Society Ltd, have been convicted and sentenced under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
They were arrested by ACB in 2004 for accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 for giving three-phase service connection.
