Eminent scholar and educationist Appa Rao Korukonda, professor of Management Information Systems at Bloomsberg University of Pensylvania (USA), passed away on Friday after brief and sudden illness during his visit to India. He was here to participate in international conferences at IIM, Bangalore and Central University, Hyderabad. He did his chemical engineering from Andhra University and had two doctoral degrees.

He had been the recipient of two competitive awards from the United Nations University, Tokyo besides an award from President of India and several other national and international awards and research grants. Dr. Rao, who breathed his last in the city, is survived by his wife and two children.

His final obsequies will be held on Saturday at his residence in the city.
