KURNOOL: Azmatulla Khan, considered an intellectual face of Muslims of Kurnool city, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday. He was 79. Mr. Khan served the Osmania College here as its Administrative Officer and in other capacities for 58 years.

After graduating from Osmania College as its first batch student in 1947-49, Mr. Khan joined the very institution and remained with it till the last. Even though retired in 1988, he continued to discharge duties in his capacity as honorary Administrative Officer.

Mr. Azmatulla Khan was a witness to the starting and growth of the minority institution which secured A grade in the NAAC assessment. An eloquent speaker with good drafting skills in English, Mr. Khan was instrumental in promoting modern education among minority community in the city. The staff and students of Osmania Group of Institutions, led by Correspondent Azra Javed, condoled the death.
