Andhra University, GITAM University, and all educational institutions celebrated the 63{+r}{+d}Republic Day on Thursday.

The National Flag was hoisted at the impressively held functions and students and NCC contingents of the respective colleges and schools participated in the march past.

At Andhra University, Rector P.V.G.D. Prasada Reddy highlighted the progress made by the country in science and technology. The university was seeking help of its alumni to improve infrastructure and the response was good, he said.

Gold medal

Prof. Prasada Reddy presented Rs. 15,000 to a student of the university M. Pallavi for winning a gold medal in the all-India inter-university athletic championship.

At GITAM University, Vice-Chancellor G. Subramanyam was the chief guest of the function.

He stressed the need for educating the youth to help them acquire necessary skills and competence. He also inaugurated the third GITAM sports meet. Pro Vice-Chancellor D. Harinarayana, principals of GITAM colleges, faculty, students, and employees participated.
