East Coast Railway Shramik Union (E.Co.R.S.U) has sought a 25 per cent hike in all allowances payable to Railway employees as per the recommendations of the 6 th Pay Comissission.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, assistant general secretary and divisional coordinator of the union B. Damodara Rao noted that the Pay Commission had recommended the hike whenever the D.A. crossed 50 per cent. The DA has reached 51 per cent in January this year but the allowances of the employees have not been hiked by 25 per cent so far.
He noted that the All India Railwaymen's Federation general secretary Shiva Gopal Mishra had already sent a memorandum to the Railway Board seeking immediate implementation of the hike in allowances, failing which the union would be forced to go on an agitation.
