VISAKHAPATNAM: Railways would help in developing the industrialisation scheme in Kalinga Nagar area, the East Coast Railway General Manager, Ajay Kumar Goyal, assured while on a visit to the Jakhapura, Sukinda Road and Daitari railway stations in Kalinga Nagar area recently.
Since rail connectivity would go a long way in determining the success of any mega industrial project an accurate and specific planning of the Railways’ contribution to a project should be done early, Mr. Goyal said.
He took stock of Railway’s preparedness for the industrial boom and advised the Transport Planning and Construction Wings of the Railways to ensure success of all projects in the area.
Single window unit
The Transport Planning Unit of East Coast Railway would serve as the single window unit for Railway projects.
He pointed out that most of the large projects took extra time for final implementation due to lack of initial planning or non-inclusion of the railway element.
Railway should be kept in the policy framework of any mega industrial project and the different steel plants and large industries should take advantage of Railways’ infrastructure and expertise of the East Coast Railway, he said adding that Railways was technologically tuned and was well prepared to handle this scenario.
The General Manager had positive interactions and deliberations with key industrial players of the area. Representatives of the Jindal Steel and VISA Steel pointed out that problem with land acquisition came in way of rail connectivity to their plants and the issue was being taken up with the State Government.
The industries were happy to note that Railway contract work related to infrastructure project was in place and things were progressing well.
