As part of the novel scheme to popularise the celestial wedding of Lord Venkateswara across the globe, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) conducted ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’ at East London on Saturday, a festival that turned out to be a visual feast to behold for the devout.
Similar rituals were held in Nepal, USA and Canada. The wedding of Lord Malayappa (Venkateswara) with His two consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi was performed in a spiritual ambience, attended mostly by Non-Resident Indians and local denizens of East London.
Traditional rituals like ‘Punyahavachanam’, ‘Yedurkolu’, ‘Mangalya Dharana’, ‘Thalambralu’ and ‘Mangala Harathi’ were performed as per the Hindu tradition to the bejewelled idols. TTD’s Deputy Executive Officer Baby Sarojini, Assistant Vigilance and Security Officer Viswanatham represented TTD at the ritual. The next event is at Belfast on May 18.
