Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has time on hand in spite of a challenging electoral battle ahead. Until March 25 when he will kick-start his road show, his main task will be mollifying those who have failed to get ticket. On Saturday, he arrived at the CLP office 15 minutes before schedule, catching Finance Minister K. Rosaiah off guard. Mr. Rosaiah, was overheard saying that Dr. Reddy should learn to arrive late, at least during the elections.

Proven actor

As the campaign of NTR Jr. for the TDP has proved to be a great success in North Andhra, rival parties are in jitters. While the Praja Rajyam has quickly finalised the tour of Chiranjeevi’s brother, ‘Power Star’ Pawan Kalyan, to undo the damage, the Congress is yet to come out with its plans. One of its leaders commented “indeed he is acting well even outside the movies.”

Last incumbent

Congress MLA of Lakkireddipalle Gadikota Mohan Reddy, 60, can claim to hold the record of being the last incumbent in an office more than once in Kadapa district.

He was elected Samithi president in attempt in 1977. To his misfortune, the Samithis were abolished. Dame luck smiled on him 27 years later when he was elected Congress MLA from Lakkireddipalle.

But the constituency was abolished in delimitation and he has ended up as its last MLA.
